“Save one life you are a hero. Save 100 lives, you are a nurse” by Unknown

Nursing is a care career. It is a career that needs to come straight from the heart.

However, even if you care about being a nurse, you need a great application essay to be accepted in college.

We created this guideline to ensure you achieve your dreams of being a nurse. Here are 5 key tips to writing a great “why I want to be a nurse” essay.

Read the Essay Guidelines At Least 3 Times

Many students don’t know that the single best advice to writing great essays is reading and re-reading the instructions.

If you want your nursing application essay to be excellent, you have to spend some time reading the instructions. We recommend you go through the guideline for submission at least three or four times.

The reason for this is quite simple. It is only after comprehending these instructions that you understand the reviewer’s expectations. You get into the mind of the reader and only then, can you write a great essay.

You might notice that the reader likes great stories, which will prompt you to start your essay with a great personal story.

Side note, people love great stories. If you find a way, always include nice and personal stories in your essays.

Plan Your Essay and Then Relax, Let the Idea Come to You

You have now read the instructions thrice or four times, it is now time to plan your essay.

Whenever I want to write any essay, I use Google to help me out. In this particular example, I would use the keyword “examples of great nursing application essays”.

I recommend having five to 7 samples before starting your own essay. Having examples helps create a roadmap to writing your own great essay.

After dissecting how other students did it, it is time for step two – free writing your own ideas.

The idea is to borrow ideas from the examples and then come up with your own similar or better stories.

If they told the story of how a family member miraculously recovered from an illness, chances are you also have a family member who has survived a fatal or terminal illness.

After you come up with several ideas, take a walk or some coffee to meditate on the ideas you created.

When you come back, separate the ideas you think are good or great.

Your Introduction is the Key

For every essay I write, I make sure I kill the introduction (metaphorically though).

It is in this introduction that you set expectations, grab attention and make an impression.

Some of the best ways to start your nursing essay is to tell a great and touching personal story that pushed towards the profession of nursing. Do not be shy in writing this introduction. Be open and vulnerable in sharing your dreams.

People are really taken by sincerity. As such, check your tone and language in writing your introduction. They want to feel that you are sincere in your ambitions.

In your introduction, make sure you prove that you care about people and their wellbeing.

Flaunt Your Qualifications

Use your body paragraphs to flaunt your qualifications for the reviewer to see.

That is, let them know that you not only care about being a nurse, but you are also qualified to be one.

Qualifications show that you have the right discipline required to be a nursing student and subsequent practitioner.

I know you are tempted to start with your test scores, but instead, start with awards and recognitions you have received outside school. In this space, experience is way better than any grades you can flaunt about.

Only include your test scores and grades at the end to make your case even stronger.

The Best Way to Proofread Your Paper Ever!!!!

If you are like most students, nothing is as boring as proofreading or re-reading your paper. No one likes to go through their writing one more time, including me.

Here is what I do to make proofreading essay. I don’t wait to finish the whole paper to correct my errors.

Instead, I proofread as I write my papers. This means going over every three sentences I write. That is, if I write three sentences, I read them again and again until am satisfied, then I go to the next three sentences.

With this strategy, by the time I am done writing, my paper is error free and ready. The only thing extra I do is to use tools like Grammarly and Ginger Software to proofread my paper one more time.

Ginger Software is so good, and I can even rate it higher than the famous Grammarly. It automates the process of editing each sentences in easy click and go process.

In the End

In the end, how good your essay is is dependent on how much you care about nursing, how well prepared you are and how good you are at expressing yourself on paper.
